Designated Laser Areas (DLAs)

The following information should be displayed at all points of entry to a DLA where High Risk lasers are in operation:

  • Basic explanatory information combined with the laser hazard warning triangle (black star-burst on yellow background);

Laser hazard symbol
Laser radiation warning

  • Clearly visible warning lights or a monitor screen indicate when High Risk lasers are energized (i.e. have the capability to emit) as follows:
GREEN
Safe to enter
 
AMBER
Restricted access. Read warning signs before entering. Eyewear required. Same as RED if no amber lights are installed.
 
RED
Restricted access. Read warning signs before entering (additional access restrictions). Eyewear required.
