Vulcan experimental areas

The Vulcan laser supports two experimental areas, providing for differing experimental and laser capabilities. These target areas are:

• Target Area West - Providing capability for dual short pulse lasers alongside 6 long pulse beamlines.
• Target Area Petawatt - Providing up to 1PW short pulse laser with a single long pulse beamline

Both Areas have flexibility in the beamline layouts. The following pages provide further detail, but facility staff should always be consulted on experimental design. Experimental diagnostics are available, including optical and x-ray diagnostics for both time resolved and integrated imaging and spectroscopy.
