The Target Fabrication Group has extensive expertise in the areas of:

• Micro-assembly
• Thin-Film coating
• Characterisation of micro-targets
• Micro-machining

Overview

Operationally, the Target Fabrication Group is set up to work closely with the user community to provide advice, delivery and characterisation of high specification micro-targets.

Target modifications are possible during experimental campaigns enabling the maximum science to be achieved from the limited time that is available on the facilities.

Research and Development projects are ongoing into novel target designs and micro-assembly techniques to be able to deliver targets for the future high power lasers.
